Day 5 June 15, 2011 - Bath/Leeds

Ola amigos - greetings from Spain, oops that's the wrong country....

No, no - no worries we are in England but have moved on to Leeds in the province of Yorkshire. After packing up this morning we transfered over to Bath, about an hour away, an ancient Roman hot springs city. The majority of the buildings, of this rich and well known spa town are built of limestone, which makes for a unique and elegant atmosphere. We first took an hour city tour seeing the most important buildings and getting an idea about the interesting architecture. Many structures are set up in curves and therefore make a unique street appearance (hard to explain but see the photo).

We then had an audio guided tour through the Ancient Roman Bath structure, a fascinating archeological find with lots of history! Our free time unfortunately got cut a bit short for the afternoon in order to get to Leeds in time, but we all enjoyed some roaming around, finding a good place for lunch and a bit of shopping. So glad a few kids found a music store for some CD's - no more ABBA!!!!

On our 4,5 hour drive up to Leeds there was a lot of singing, dancing, playing guitar going on - what an entertainment for us chaperones! Unfortunately the AC in the bus gave our very nice bus driver, Steve, some hard time and us a special "Spa treatment", if you know what I mean. Those are the days when one is happy that England isn't just sunshine, which would have warmed up the coach even more...

After a very nice dinner at the hotel, we even had candle light tonight, some kiddos took a stroll around the neighborhood for some more soccer with Mark in the park and fitness work out with Amelia ;o) The nightly mingling in the hotel corridors and rooms are always a good end to the day for everyone and we all are looking forward to exploring medieval York tomorrow.
As Sarah said to poignantly this morning: "This feels like one big family!"
Familia adios con amor

Kim: High: Alison on the bus screaming very excitedly, jumping up from her seat "It's a pheasant, it's a pheasant, it's a pheasant! SOOO COOL!!!"

Niki: High: The music entertainment on the bus ride.

The group Low for the day for sure was the warm bus, but then again, it was ABBA yesterday...
