Hello everyone,
yeah Internet again.... well it's not easy to connect to it for me right now so I just want to emphasize to you all again, if you don't get a new blog every day everything is alright - it just meant that either I didn't have internet or I had no time to send a blog...
But the hotel we moved in tonight at 8pm has free 6 hours in the lobby - hurray!, which 'yes' I am doing right now, getting a bit of news of our last days out to you to keep you updated.
Everyone had a good first night and we were off almost on time next morning on our coach sightseeing tour through London - thank goodness it was Sunday and traffic was in our favor most of the time until we came up to a charity marathon for breast cancer, and yes this time they were dressed (in pink!) ;o)
The morning tour ended at the Globe Theatre - a well anticipated destination for many of our kids! We got to see the inside of the theater and then a very interesting Shakespeare theatre costume demonstration, usage of material, dyes, and ranking of clothing in society....
The afternoon was free to explore different things like the visit to the London Tower, a leisure stroll and lunch back at Convent Garden, meandering the streets of London, etc before we met again for an early dinner at the pub for a traditional Fish and Chips meal. This was so that we could be back to the Globe Theatre, this time for the performance of "All's well that ends well", which was a fabulous experience! The actors were hilarious and did a fantastic job, no rain could have hindered our fun and awe of this event!!!!!
Most of us were tired and heading back to the hotel, a few were staying behind and ended the day with a stroll along the Themes and a walk across Londen Bridge illuminated (no it wasn't falling down ;o).
Once everyone was back at the hotel they got a kick of second (or maybe third) wind and had a lot of fun, maybe staying up a bit too long - but then again those nights need to happen, and it was quite alright because they could rest on our long bus rides today.
We left at 8:30am this morning going up to Stonehenge, about 2,5 hours North-West. Again this was a highlight for many! We took the guided audio tour and had an hour time to take this impressive monument and energy along, definitely an awesome experience to have been there! (I personally waited for it a looooong time!)
From there we took an hour drive to Oxford, where we had some free time for lunch along High Street, the pedestrian area of this wonderful and charming old university town - "Just so you know, some enrollment applications have been filed already....!" Afterwards we checked out the Brasenose University complex, being reminded of Hogwarts and the wonderful world of Harry Potter. An unexpected treat was some wonderful piano playing by a young student while looking at the small, quaint university chapel... those are the treasures to find along the way! After some free time of roaming for some last photo shoots, a bit of shopping, and some fudge we continued on to Newport, to our next hotel.
After dinner - if you could call it that, maybe we need to give them a lesson in pasta cooking tomorrow,.... some of us took a stroll outside, then enjoying some time 'hanging' at the hotel before everyone is hopefully taking a good night sleep to be refreshed tomorrow for our visit to Stratford.
Having free internet at the hotel I am sure I will send an update again, but right now I need to put my head down on the pillow and get some rest too.
So have fun with the photos and be assured that all is ok if you don't hear/read from us.
Happy smiles over the Atlantic from all of us.
